Privacy Policy

ManaKalyanam ("we", "our", "the Platform") is operated by Lipi Technologies. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use www.manakalyanam.com. By accessing the Platform you agree to this Policy.

From Clients (individual users):

• Name, email address, phone number (for account registration and OTP verification)
• Profile view history and wallet transaction records

From Bureaus (marriage bureaus):

• Bureau name, contact details, city, state, address, website
• Logo and cover images
• Documents submitted for verification (e.g. business registration, ID proof)
• Subscription and payment records

Profile data entered by bureaus on behalf of clients:

• Name, date of birth, religion, caste, education, occupation, income, location
• Photographs shared by the bureau with explicit consent of the individual

Automatically collected:

• IP address, browser type, device information, and usage logs for security and analytics

• To operate and improve the Platform
• To verify bureau identity and grant access to platform features
• To send OTP emails, password reset links, and approval notifications
• To process wallet transactions and maintain payment records
• To display profiles to registered clients and bureaus as intended
• To investigate fraud, abuse, or legal complaints
• To comply with applicable Indian laws and regulatory requirements

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these cases:

• Between bureaus and clients: Profile information is shared across the network as directed by the bureau that owns the profile, subject to the privacy settings chosen by the bureau.
• Payment processors: Razorpay processes payments on our behalf and is subject to their own Privacy Policy. We do not store card or UPI details.
• Email providers: Resend is used to deliver transactional emails.
• Legal obligations: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or government authority.

Bureaus are independently responsible for obtaining informed consent from the individuals whose profiles they upload, including consent to share photographs. ManaKalyanam acts as a technology platform only and does not independently verify the accuracy of profile data submitted by bureaus. Any legal liability arising from false, misleading, or non-consented profile data rests solely with the bureau that submitted it.

• All data is stored on Neon PostgreSQL (hosted in the USA) and Vercel Blob Storage.
• Profile photographs are stored in private Blob storage and served only to authenticated users through a secure proxy.
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text.
• Session tokens are signed, HTTP-only cookies.
• We use TLS/HTTPS for all data in transit.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If a bureau or client account is deactivated, profile and transaction data may be retained for up to 3 years for legal and audit purposes, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Under applicable Indian law (IT Act 2000, DPDP Act 2023) you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations)
• Withdraw consent for data processing where processing is based on consent

We use a single session cookie (manakalyanam_session) that is essential for authentication. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

The Platform is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted data, contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
